This week in Hereford Class
This week in Hereford Class we are beginning our RE journey of 'Why Does Christmas matter to Christians?' We will be exploring the Christmas story and how Christians use the Christmas story to guide their beliefs.
In English, we finish writing our letters as Sunny the meerkat, who has gone on his travels to find a better place to live, realising that there is nowhere just like home.
In Maths, Year 2 will be adding two 2-digit numbers, following on from practise involving adding ones and tens to 2-digit numbers. Year 1, will explore odd and even numbers and children will have the opportunity to apply and deepen this knowledge through a range of activities.
In the Amberley Immersion Curriculum (AIC) we are studying WWI, in History. We will be understanding how The Great War started, the countries involved and looking at the chronology. We will be using the text of 'The Christmas Truce' to understand what happened on Christmas Day during the war. Please find attached the overview. This details ideas in which you can support at home.
Parents' evening will be held on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. These are 10 minute appointments. If after the appointment, you feel you would like further discussion, please let me know. It is important that we stick to the allocated slots so that we don't run over, delaying other people's slots or in fact, other classes. If you haven't signed up yet, please ensure that you do so on the sheet, which can be found on the school gate in the mornings and afternoons, or in the office during the school day.
A letter went home on Friday regarding our first school trip. We will be visiting Gloucester Cathedral. Please return these slips at your earliest convenience.
