This week in Hereford Class
This week in Hereford Class we are finishing off retelling the story of Not Now Bernard by David McKee. We will then go on to plan our own stories, using the structure that we have learned. Watch out for some scary monsters which I am sure will appear!
In Maths we are looking at different ways of making numbers to 10, and recalling them rapidly (Year 1) and different number bonds to 100 (Year 2) using our smaller bonds to help us (if 9 and 1 = 10, 90 and 10 = 100) We continue our Immersion Curriculum journey this week in Science. We have explored the different seasons and the weather associated with them. We will now look at the way that day length varies and will be using pictograms to represent the hours of daylight across the seasons. The children have loved exploring the apparent movement of the sun and understand how we get night and day.
We are coming to the end of our Creation topic in RE where we have looked at God's creation, thought about ways people don't respect it (and how we should) and ways that we can be grateful for living in an amazing world. We will be reflecting on our Christian value of perseverance and looking at ways we have shown our value this term. If you see any of our Christian values being shown at home, please do get in touch and your child can be nominate for a Values For Life Award.
You may have heard the children talking about Christmas already. I know it is very early but the children have all designed their own Christmas Cards, organised by the PTA. These need to be completed early enough so that they can be ordered in time for Christmas. Their designs will be sent home over the next few days so please do look out for them. Calendars, mugs, cards and many other things can be purchased with your children's designs on the front and they are beautiful!
