This week in Hereford Class

This week in Hereford Class we continue with our place value topic in Maths. We are reading and writing numbers to 20 and 100 in numerals and words, focusing on the spelling. Children will be using partitioning and dienes to represent these numbers to show their understanding. In English we are understanding the features of instructions and then beginning to write our own, using what we have learnt. We will be writing instructions for a variety of tasks and games and will us the grammar features taught.

In RE we are looking at God as a creator. We will be exploring the Creation Story and discussing what was created on each day.

Year 2 will continue with the Immersion Curriculum where we will be moving onto Music: Composing. We will be using body percussion and untuned instruments to retell the story of Jack and The Beanstalk. We will be focusing on the feelings of the characters, using key vocabulary and symbols to represent our composition. Miss Holden will record this and a QR code will be available for you to watch the composition. Year 1 will continue their transition in Dexter Class this week where they will be returning to Dexter Class for continuous provision. They will join the rest of Hereford Class from next week, in the afternoons when the Dexter children start full time.

In Outdoor Learning, as I'm sure many of you experienced on Friday, children can get mucky outside and we ask that you bring an additional jumper, trousers and a pair of wellies for them to wear when outside. That way their PE kit stays dry and clean, which they can wear for their final lesson on a Friday with Mr Spurrier.

Please remember to return the home school agreements. These were sent out on Friday 3rd September and an electronic copy last week.

Thank you for a lovely first full week back last week and please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.
