This week in Hereford Class
This week in Hereford Class we have really enjoyed our trip to Cotswold Wildlife Park. We explored all of the animals and had a 'habitat talk' whereby we looked at squirrel monkeys, penguins and a tamunda, exploring how they were suited to their habitats. Helen, our guide, was blown away with the knowledge that the children had.
In Maths we are recapping subtraction. Y1 are being taught mental strategies to get down to the nearest multiple of 10 and then use their bonds to 10. For example 36 - 8. We have done 36 - 6 to get to 30 and then taken away the next 2 to reach an answer of 28. Y2 are using the written method for subtraction where they must 'steal' a 10 from next door. They have really understood this method and have found it a really efficient way to both, add and subtract.
In English we are writing our recounts independently, based on our trip to CWP. We will be using all that we were taught in the break down of our recount learning last week and applying this to our own independent piece.
In RE we are looking at how Muslims worship. We are looking back at previous learning and making links to Muslim beliefs and practices.
