This week in Hereford Class

Welcome back! We hope that you had a restful half term and enjoyed time with your friends and family.

This term is a very busy term with parents evening, the phonic's curriculum evening and The Nativity! I can't believe we are already mentioning Christmas! This week in English we are continuing with our story journey of Not Now Bernard where we are retelling the story as well as innovating it. We will continue to practise the skill of multiplication and move onto applying and deepening this.

Our new RE topic is "What does it mean to belong to a faith community?" where we will be looking at what happens during traditional ceremonies in different faiths and thinking about the love and belonging shown within different faiths.

In Computing we are being game testers, where we will be looking at online games, thinking about how to use them safely and in moderation but also how they work, making predictions and testing them.

During the Immersion Curriculum this week we are being historians and studying World War II. We will be looking at when this happened, why it happened and thinking about key language such as decades, centuries whilst thinking about how long ago things happened in History.. We will take a look at rationing and how children were affected during the war.

Please remember that there is a phonics evening on Thursday from 5.45pm to 6.45pm where we will be looking in detail about how phonics is taught and the statutory assessment in June 2020 for the Y1 children. Please attend if you can as it will be really valuable.

Sign up sheets for Parents' evening will be available in the office.
