This week in Hereford Class

Welcome back to the Spring Term and a very Happy New Year to you all. I hope that you had an enjoyable Christmas, despite the current restrictions and that you had time to relax and spend some time with loved ones.

We kick off this week with our new Christian Value of Thankfulness, which we can link closely with the Christmas period. We will be exploring the parable of 'The Man who came back' and we will be discussing when we have been thankful, and what for. In English we start a unit on auto-biographies. We will start by identifying the features and ordering an auto-biography of Miss Holden's life so far. We will then write our own versions after learning lots about Miss Holden before we plan our own, about ourselves and life to date. In Maths we start a unit on multiplication. We will be exploring multiplication by looking at it as repeated addition and arrays. We will also have opportunity to practise the rapid recall of our 2, 5 and 10 times table.

In our Immersion Curriculum we are moving onto composition in Music. We will be exploring key vocabulary and composing our own music to represent thoughts and feelings of a Emily Brown in our class story of 'Emily Brown and the thing.' We will be retelling the story through music, using glockenspiels and other instruments.

Outdoor Learning and PE continues at the end of the week. Please ensure children come into school in their PE kits on both Thursdays and Fridays and bring additional clothing to keep them warm during Outdoor Learning each Friday.
