This Week in Hereford Class
Welcome back! I hope that you all had a fantastic Easter break and managed to spend lots of time with you families and friends as well as eating lots of chocolate!
The children have been an absolute pleasure on their return and I am excited for the Summer Term.
In our Amberley Immersion Curriculum we stay on History, following on from our great Fire of London learning and we will be studying three 'Wonder Women'. We will be studying Rosa Parks, Florence Nightingale and Emily Davison over the next two weeks and learning about the impact they had on our world.
This week, we begin our autobiography writing where we will be text marking and finding the features of an autobiography all about Mrs Hamilton and Mrs Apew. We will finish the unit by writing one all about one of our three wonder women we are studying in History.
In Maths, we continue our journey or fractions. We are looking at finding 1/4 of shapes, quantities and objects. Additional practise of this at home would be hugely beneficial. Year 2 will use this knowledge to move onto finding 3/4.
In RE, we will be starting a new unit on 'How should we care for others and the world?' We will be looking at stories from different faiths, as well as linking it to the well known story of 'The Rainbow Fish'. Our new value is Justice and we will re-visit the story of Jonah and The Whale. Please find the activity sheet on the whole school BLOG. There are some lovely activities which could be done at home.
