This week in Hereford
Welcome back to the final term of the year. I cannot believe how quickly time is flying by. Soon Year 2 will be transitioning into Key Stage 2 and Year 1 will be the oldest in Hereford Class! I hope that you all had a lovely half term and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine.
This week in Hereford Class we are all feeling really excited for our class trips in the upcoming weeks, which are all based around our animal topics that we have and will continue to explore in science.
In English this week we are innovating the story of 'The Tiger Who Came To Tea' by Judith Kerr. The children have all been busy planning their own animals which visit. We have a huge range of animals who are going to visit in our stories: birds, mammoths, snakes, dinosaurs, cats, giraffes, ponies... the list goes on! I am looking forward to reading these stories when they are complete.
In Maths we continue with statistics where we are reading and interpreting tally charts and block diagrams. We have already explored favourite colours and we will move onto animals seen on safari. This is a really great opportunity to categorise animals, revisiting our science.
In RE we will be exploring our new value of 'Respect' and we will be reading the story of 'Moses and The Burning Bush.' We will think about what this new value means and how we can show respect to ourselves, our community and our wider world.
Finally, in our Immersion Curriculum we have moved onto PSHE: All about me. We will study this for the next two weeks due to the INSET on Monday. We are looking at hygiene, diet and exercise, resilience and positive coping strategies.
If you haven't already returned the slips for our school trips in the upcoming weeks, please do so at your earliest convenience.
