This week in Hereford

This week in Hereford, we are starting lots of new journeys in our learning. In the immersion curriculum, we will be moving onto Science - Forces. We will be looking at the different forces and the effect that they have on objects. We will start by looking at pushes and pulls but will then look into water and air resistance as well as gravity and friction. We will be planning our own experiments, performing simple tests and making conclusions about the friction on different surfaces.
In English, we begin a journey on auto-biographies. We will be pretending to be Miss Holden and will be writing about her life and then we will apply this to writing about our lives. In Maths, we begin a unit on fractions, this will fit in excellently as our new journey, as we have just completed division. We will be looking at 1/2 and 1/4 in year 1 and 1/2, 1/4, 1/3 and 3/4. We will begin by recognising and finding fractions of shape.
In RE, we will be looking at ways that God is forgiving, making links to him being a loving father. We will be looking at different scenarios, some of which we have come across in school, where will be thinking about forgiveness and ways in which we show and ask for it.
I have attached the overview sheet for our Immersion Curriculum learning and direct you to how you can support this learning at home should you wish to.
