This week in Friesian class
It was so lovely to see you all at parents' evening last week and have the opportunity to discuss your children's learning with you.
This week in Friesian class, we will be looking at missing number problems and number puzzles in maths, and will be challenging ourselves to persevere with tricky problems which have an element of trial and error. In English, we are continuing with our story writing based on Apollo and Chimera, and are focusing particularly on using adverbs, and adverbial phrases and clauses to make our writing more interesting.
In RE, we will be looking at the Jewish festival of Rosh Hashanah, and will be finding out about (and tasting) foods which are traditionally eaten at this time.
In computing, we will be debugging animations, by finding the errors in the code and fixing them. The children have really enjoyed our work using Scratch 2. If they have continued at home, please feel free to email in their creations so that we can celebrate them in school.
We are continuing to immerse ourselves in Science this week, and have already undertaken an investigation to find which materials would make the best ear defenders. The children had to use their prior learning of electricity to create a a circuit with a working buzzer. They then used a sound measuring app to record the decibel level of the buzzer under a variety of materials. Please look out for a letter which will be coming home, detailing an upcoming trip to FGR, as part of our Design and Technology work.
