This Week in Friesian Class

This week, we will be using our Immersion Curriculum time as geographers, and will, like the rest of the school, be learning about the South American country of Brazil.

In English, we will be furthering our understanding of life in the Amazon Rainforest by reading the biography of Chico Mendes, a rubber tapper who fought hard to raise global awareness of deforestation. We will use the book "Rainforest Warrior" by Anita Ganeri and Margaux Carpentier as the basis of our work on biographies and will continue into next week, when we will write our own versions using the elements of the genre that we discover this week.

In maths, we will be focused on place value and will also introduce using online sites to increase our speed and accuracy with times tables recall. Below, you will find a QR code which can be used to access the same site at home for additional practice.

This week's spelling list can also be found below. Please note the the page contains different spellings for each year group.

In RE, we will be thinking about what Christians learn from the creation story, making links to prior learning and discussing the impact of these beliefs on Christians today.

In computing, we will be looking further at aspects of online safety associated with Self Image and Self Identify. We will also be learning about the World Wide Web and how computers are connected through the use of networks.
