This Week in Friesian Class

Welcome Back!

What a beautiful week to be back at school!

This week, we will be getting to know each other better as a class again, and will be getting used to the routines and expectations of Year 3/4.

In maths, we will be focusing on place value and will be looking at the number of ones (sometimes known as units), tens and hundreds in a variety of numbers. We will also learn new games which will focus on reasoning.

In English, we will be reading the book, "I talk like a river" by Jordan Scott and Sydney Smith which is written in poetic phrases. We will learn about some of the tools that are used in poetry and will be writing our own poems in a similar style.

In our Immersion Curriculum time, we will be learning about rights and responsibilities, including learning about the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child, and the differences between rules and laws.

On Thursday morning, we will be taking a trip to the common where we will take part in a session focused on the flora and fauna of the commons, as part of the Stroud Valleys 'Landscape of the Lark Festival'. Although the weather is currently forecast to be cloudy, please make sure that your child has sun cream pre-applied, a hat, water bottle and sensible shoes.

If you have any queries or questions, please get in touch. I look forward to catching up with you soon.
