This week in Dexter Class

This week, we will be continuing to consolidate and strengthen our ability to segment and blend using the sounds that we have learned. We will also use the tricky and high frequency words we have covered to write short captions.

In maths, we will be focusing on patterns, subitising and our understanding of the composition of numbers to 5. We will be recording using simple number sentences and will be trying to recall bonds to 5 with increased accuracy and speed.

in RE, we will think back to the different celebrations we have learned about so far this year and thinking about which celebrations are most important to people. We will then make links to the Christian celebration of Christmas and hear the Nativity story in order to develop out understanding of why it is such a key part of the Christian faith.

In English, we will be reading 'Owl Babies' by Martin Waddell, and will be taking part in lots of owl related activities in addition to discussing, retelling and ordering the story and challenging ourselves to read and write captions to go with the illustrations.

On Tuesday morning, we will be welly walking , so please ensure that your child has their waterproof clothes and boots in school, as well as a hat if the weather proves cold.

We are very much looking forward to seeing you on Wednesday for parents' evening, and discussing your children's progress so far. If you have not yet booked an appointment time, please look out for the sign up sheet at the gates, or contact Mrs Russell in the office.
