This week in Dexter class

Wow! What a busy start we have had to the new term. The childen have settled back into their routines and are demonstrating the learning powers every day. This week, in literacy, we are reading the book Wild by Emily Hughes about a young girl raised in the wild. This is inspiring some very creative writing. We are also using our communication and language skills and have been taking part in activities such as freeze-framing -acting out the emotions of the character in the story. We will be progressing to sentence matching and writing postcards.

In mathematics we are working on spatial reasoning; we will be using our detective skills to match shapes and also learning about matching and rotation.

In RE, we will be recognising how Jesus gives Christians instructions on how to behave. We will be exploring this through the story of Matthew the tax collector.

After the success of our work in Expressive Art and Design where we looked at the artist Jackson Pollack, we will be looking at another artist on Friday. This week we will look at the work of Piet Mondrian and complete a piece of work to bring home.

The children are really enjoying their outdoor play and will also have PE with Mr Spurrier on Friday.
