This Week in Dexter Class

This week in Dexter class, we will be continuing with our work on traditional tales and will be reading Beauty and the Beast. The children will be using their recall and reading skills to order the story and match sentences. They will also be creating magical items; investigating roses and other plants; following instructions to make paper flowers; making fairy tale scenes and flip books, and writing their own stories, to name a few!

In phonics, we will be developing our reading and writing skills using ccvcc words and will be learning to read polysyllabic words. In maths, we are focusing on doubling and will be using a variety of resources to learn our double facts. We will be welly walking on Tuesday and hope to learn to name a variety of trees by looking more closely at their features. In RE, we will be focusing on the Easter Story and finding out about the symbolism of hot cross buns (and maybe eating some too!)

We will also be developing our understanding of the world, by starting a link with Amberley School in New Zealand, where Mrs Crampton's niece and nephew are at school! We can't wait to find out what life is like in their Amberley!
