This week in Dexter Class

This week, we will be learning the sounds y, z, zz and qu, and will be learning to read the words will, was, my and by. We will use the sounds we have learned so far to read and write a variety of words, and will continue to practice our reading of high frequency and tricky words.
In our literacy, language and communication sessions, we will be reading Owl Babies by Martin Whaddell, and will be creating a story map, looking at the structure of the story and using our phonics knowledge to write simple words and phrases. We will also find out more about owls and will take part in some fine motor skill crafting to create our own.
In maths, we will be looking at the composition of the number 5 and will be learning the number bonds which go together to make this number. We will continue to practice our subitising and counting skills too.
In RE, we will be focusing on Remembrance day, and finding out about why people wear poppies. We will have a go at following instructions to make our own poppies and will work together to create some collaborative art work.
