This week in Belted Galloway class

Welcome to term 2! The weather is getting colder and the days are getting shorter, but we have an industrious term planned and it is great to be back. This week, the children will be putting what they have learnt in English together to take part in a national writing competition for the Rotary club. They will have the chance to write a piece of work independently, and they will edit and draft their work before producing a final piece. In maths, we will be focussing on using place value to multiply and divide by powers of 10. Later in the week, the children will take part in a GECKO maths session, where they will have the opportunity to work collaboratively to solve a range of quite cunning problems! This week, as part of the immersion curriculum, we will be revisiting World War 2. Our focus in Belted Galloway class will be about the role of women in the war, the role of propaganda and the nature of the leaders, culminating in a trip to the war memorial on Friday.
