This Week in Belted Galloway Class

This week is the End of Key Stage 2 tests week, often known as SATs week, for Year 6 pupils. It is a chance for them to show what they have learnt over their primary school journey and a time for them to realise how far they have come. It is not, and should not be, a time for stress and anxiety, and we will be doing everything we can to make sure your child feels happy, looked after and proud of their efforts, because if they try hard, then we are also happy. The skills they are assessed on will be skills they need in secondary school, while the process of taking external tests for the first time is something that will help prepare them for the next stage in their journey. Year 5 children will be developing equally important but quite different skills this week as they undertake a series of activities with the Dexters children: they will problem solve, have the chance to be creative and develop their nurturing side as they work with the younger children. Our Immersion Curriculum topic this week is Art, where we will be studying the work of Monet and developing an impressionist style.
