This Week in Belted Galloway Class

This week we will be completing our work on tragedy narratives, giving the children the chance to complete their stories inspired by Alma, and then write their own stories linked to either Alma or Macbeth. The children have been writing so well this week and I so look forward to sharing some of your work with them at parents' evenings later in the month. In maths, we will be moving away from number and we will be beginning a block of work on geometry, starting with calculating perimeter and area this week, and moving onto calculating volume, measuring and calculating angles and reasoning about 2 and 3D shapes in the next few weeks. Our class novel, October October, will feature prominently this week. It deals with a number of issues, exploring a diverse lifestyle and the difficulties of 'fitting in' to a world you don't want to be a part of. We will be complete a block of music work this week centred around rock music, and we will base a large amount of it on Bon Jovi's classic 'Living on a Prayer'. I genuinely can't wait!!!
