This Week in Belted Galloway class

This week we will be starting our topic on Ancient Greece, which we will complete after we return from PGL. The children are really excited for the trip, and we look forward to really challenging them and allowing them the opportunity to develop as a team. It is lovely to see how involved the children are in our class novel, Podkin One Ear. They are full of interesting ideas and opinions, and many children have risen to the challenge of reading aloud to the whole class. Our work in English links partly to this novel and also to the myth we studied last week: we will be developing story structure in our narrative work. In maths, we will be focussing on written and mental methods of subtraction. The children are getting into the routine of weekly spelling tests and weekly homework activities too, which will be particularly beneficial for those headed to secondary school next year in terms of developing an organised routine.
