This week in Belted Galloway class

We are at the start of our second full week back at school and it feels like we haven't been away! I have really been enjoying seeing the children's creativity in their narrative writing based on the animation RUIN. They will be developing character descriptions and describing the action this week, ending the week by drawing their stories to a satisfying close. If you want to look at the animation, it is available on the following link: https://www.literacyshed.com/ruin.html.

In maths this week, we will be extending our number work to include negative numbers, rounding and a little bit of Roman numerals. Our immersion curriculum topic for the week will be a science one: we will be studying Forces for the next couple of weeks. We will start with work on magnetism, gravity and air resistance, before moving onto up thrust in water and friction before the send of next week. The children will carry out both practical and theoretical activities, and we will look at fair test conventions before they plan their own investigation.
