World Book Day 2019 in Friesian Class

Friesian Class have celebrated World Book Day in style with a ‘Grim Fairy tales’ theme. We started the day by reading the story of Hansel and Gretel. The children then shared the books that they brought in. They really enjoyed reading to each other and hearing each other read parts of their favou

rite books.

The children then worked in groups to create a new front and back cover for our Hansel and Gretel book. They drew pictures that they felt portrayed the story, without giving away the ending. They also wrote a blurb.

In the afternoon, we had a drama competition. The children acted out the story, changing it to make it their own. Some of them changed the characters, while others re-wrote the ending. We watched the performances and decided who had worked well together and been the most creative. We then decided on the winners. All in all, we had a lovely day, celebrating the love of reading.
