This week in Hereford

In maths, we will be starting a new topic on division this week where we will be sharing items using 'peas on plates' and arrays. Other children will be looking at the relationship to multiplication and will use known facts in order to solve problems. We are continuing with our story writing and will be finishing off our versions of 'The Gingerbread Man' before innovating this and writing our own stories.

In RE we will be looking at the 5 pillars of Islam and discovering ways that Muslims show their belief in their God, Allah. We touches on this in Autumn 1 and I was blown away with the amount that children could remember.

We will be continuing our topic about where we live in PSHE and will be discussing ways in which we can make our community better. Last week we looked at things that weren't so good about our area, whereby the children came up with excellent examples (speeding, people not picking up after their dogs etc). We will develop this by looking at what we can do.

We will be getting the laptops out again and will be programming but with a key focus of spotting errors and fixing them, using the term 'debug.'

We are really enjoying our topic in DT where we have already sewn our puppets together. This week we will be adding hair, faces and clothes to our fairy tale characters. Look out for our finish products - they're going to be amazing!
