This week in Hereford

Happy new year to you all. I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and new year and are feeling refreshed and ready for another busy term. A huge thank you to you all for your generous gifts at the end of last term - you are all so kind, thoughtful and I am very grateful to have such wonderful parents, so thank you!

To launch our new topic, we started the week with a letter from a very sad gingerbread man. It turned out that over the Christmas period, his family (all 30 of them) had been eaten. We decided that we would bake gingerbread men to replace his family. We had to weigh the ingredients using weighing scales, teaspoons and tablespoons. We baked them in the oven and the Gingerbread man decided we could enjoy them. We designed and made gingerbread houses by measuring to the nearest centimetre and assembled them by cutting and gluing.

This week we will begin a maths unit on multiplication and begin our topic of 'Get out of my swamp' by writing our own stories.

Please remember, it is our trip to the Everyman Theatre on Thursday and all children need a packed lunch. We will be back in school for the end of the day but ask all children to be in school by 8.45am so that we can leave, on the coach by 9am as the show begins at 10am. I know that some children maybe feeling a little apprehensive about the trip - please encourage those children to talk to me, or send me an email so that I can ensure that they are sat next to an adult, who will put them at ease.

A letter detailing our exciting plans will be sent out this week and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me by email or by using the link on the Hereford site, which will be sent directly to my inbox.

Please remember, there will be no outdoor learning until term 2.
