This week in Hereford Class
This week we have started learning the songs for our Nativity - 'A midwife Crisis!' Children will shortly be given their parts for any lines that they have to learn.
We started the week with Rev.John visiting us, giving examples of ways in which Christians use the story of the nativity to guide their beliefs and actions at Christmas. He also talked to us about how the church prepares for Christmas. Rev.John talked to the children about Advent and what happens on each Sunday in the lead up to Christmas.
In English, we have started a new journey of recounts. We have used the story of 'Dogger' to help us write from the point of view of Dave, who lost his beloved, soft, brown toy.
In maths Y1 are counting in 5s and Y2 have been using the methods taught in addition, to apply this to subtraction.
Miss Lee completed an experiment this week, in Science where children were designing packaging for an egg box. Miss Lee had made her own but they weren't suitable as the eggs broke when she dropped the packaging. Children therefore, discussing the suitability of materials, have designed their own packaging which we will test out in a few weeks time.
Another great session of Outdoor Learning was had with Mr Jones this week. The children have continued to build on their skills of sawing and drilling. Watch this space for some fantastic Christmas decorations!
