This week in Dexter Class

This week in Dexter class, we will, along with the rest of the school, be taking part in a variety of activities to help us understand the importance of maintaining good health and wellbeing. We have already been introduced to 'The 5 ways to wellbeing' and the children have been thinking of ways that they can do each of these in their lives. We have spoken about kindness and have started to learn about our amazing brains, and how they control the way we feel. During the week, we will be using the book 'Hey Warrior' by Karen Young to learn about the amygdala and how it sometimes goes into superhero mode to try and protect us, when there is no real danger, causing us to worry and feel anxious. The children have started making worry dolls and will also have the opportunity to learn more about food types and will be making a restaurant to serve their healthy dishes! Our vegetable patch is growing fast and we have started to sample the beans- perhaps they will end up on the menu!
